Following a reconnaissance mission, the crew was returning to his base at RAF Thornaby. The twin engine airplane landed too far down the runway, overran, collided with a hedge and came to rest. Both crew members evacuated safely and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

Few minutes after takeoff from Parow Airfield, the aircraft suffered an engine failure. The pilot attempted an emergency landing when the aircraft crashed in a pond located in Gingst, about 15 km northeast of the airfield. All three crew members were injured, one seriously.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed Connantre Airport on a reconnaissance mission over Munich and Nurnberg, carrying four crew members. After takeoff, while climbing to a height of 40 metres, the right engine failed while the undercarriage were not fully retracted. The captain decided to return for an emergency landing. Upon touchdown, the airplane landed hard, broke in two and came to rest. Three crew members were seriously injured while a fourth was unhurt.

The crew was engaged in a maritime patrol flight. En route, the pilot encountered a hazardous situation with the simultaneous failure of all four engines. He attempted to ditch the float plane that stalled and crashed into the Milford Haven near Pembroke Dock. All 10 crewmen were killed.

The wreckage was found by trappers 19 years later about 64 km north of Fredericton.
