The pilot was completing a solo training flight from Upavon to Alton Barnes. On final approach, the single engine aircraft was too low and impacted the ground short of runway. It lost its undercarriage, overturned and came to rest upside down. The aircraft was destroyed and the pilot was injured.
Probable cause:
Too low approach on part of the pilot.

En route from RAF Upavon to Manston, the crew encountered foggy conditions. The pilot was apparently attempting an emergency landing when the airplane clipped a tree and crashed in a field, bursting into flames. A crew member was injured while four other occupants were killed.

While cruising over the region of Wokingham, the engine failed. The pilot lost control of the aircraft that entered a dive and crashed in a field. Both occupants, Mr. Philip Ernest Noble and Mrs. Violet Baring, were killed.
Probable cause:
The cause of the engine failure could not be determined with certainty. Investigators were unable to know who was at control at the time of the accident as both occupants were qualified pilots.

The Princess Anne Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg was engaged in a transatlantic flight from Upavon to Ottawa, Canada, and provided this aircraft named 'Saint Raphael' that was piloted by an Imperial Airways crew. The airplane departed Upavon Airport, Wiltshire, at 0732LT and continued its route to the west. It was spotted over Ireland and later by the crew of a tanker cruising in the North Atlantic ocean. As the single engine aircraft never arrived in Ottawa, SAR operations were initiated but no trace of the aircraft nor its occupants was ever found. It is believed that the aircraft crashed in the ocean off Newfoundland.
