Circumstances:
The float plane departed RAF Sullom Voe on a reconnaissance mission along the Norwegian coast, carrying six crew members. The aircraft crashed in unknown circumstances in the vicinity of Smøla Island. A dead body was later found but not trace of the aircraft or the rest of the crew. It is believed that the airplane crashed somewhere between Grip and Brattvær.

While on a reconnaissance mission over northern France, the airplane was attacked by two RAF Hurricane. The pilot attempted an emergency landing when the airplane crashed in an open field located near Staple. The airplane was damaged beyond repair after a wing struck an electric pylon while the undercarriage collapsed against a hedge. All four crew members were injured but one of them later died from injuries sustained.

It continued, off the airfield, went through the perimeter fence and came to rest into the Eden River. Both crew members were uninjured.
