While flying along the Brazilian coast, the crew encountered poor weather conditions with thunderstorm activity, heavy rain falls and turbulences. Control was lost and the airplane crashed into the ocean off Guarapari. Few debris and all three dead bodies were found on a beach off Sarita near Setiba four days later, on March 2.

The crew departed Germany on a flight to Brazil. En route, the aircraft named 'Espírito de Santo Agostinho' was catapulted from the German ship named 'Cap Arcona'. While approaching the Brazilian coast, the crew was forced to ditch the aircraft for unknown reason. All three crew members were rescued by the crew of the ship named 'SS Stavanger' while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

The aircraft departed Porto Alegre at 0600LT bound for Rio de Janeiro with six passengers and a crew of three on board. During the intermediate stop at Laguna, Santa Catarina, a seventh passenger boarded. The aircraft named 'Potyguar' continued to the northeast and while cruising some 500 metres off the beach of Icapara, the aircraft 'exploded', lost height and crashed into the sea. Nine occupants were quickly rescued by locals while a passenger, Colonel Attila Gaston Joseph Campos Salvaterra, was killed.
