Circumstances:
On final approach to Belaya Gora Airport, the aircraft was too low and hit the ground. On impact, the right main gear and the nose gear collapsed. The aircraft slid for several yards before coming to rest in a snow covered field about 400 meters short of runway threshold and 300 meters to the left of the approach path. The propeller on the right engine was torn off and it appears that the fuselage was bent as well. All 33 occupants were evacuated safely. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were marginal with limited visibility caused by snow falls. It was reported the visibility was about 2,5 km at the time of the accident while the crew needed at least 4 km on an NDB approach.
Probable cause:
The accident was caused by the combination of the following factors:
- Absence of standard operating procedures issued by the operator of how to conduct NDB approaches,
- Violation of procedures by tower who only transmitted information about snow fall and recommended to perform a low pass over the runway but did not transmit the actual visibility was 1900 meters below required minimum
- Absence of information that the visibility was below required minimum, the last transmission indicated minimum visibility was present,
- Presence of numerous landmarks (abandoned ships, ship cranes, fuel transshipment complex, ...) covered by snow within 700-1000 meters from the unpaved runway which could be taken as runway markers by flight crew,
- Presence of a number of "bald spots" due to the transitional period of year where the underlying surface became visible making it difficult to visualize and recognize the unpaved runway covered with snow (it was the first flight into Belaya Gora for the crew in the winter season, they had operated into the aerodrome only in summer so far),
- Insufficient use of the available nav aid on final approach which led to lack of proper control of the aircraft position relative to the glide path,
- Lack of possibility for tower to watch the aircraft performing the NDB approach from his work place.

Circumstances:
After a normal takeoff roll, the rotation was initiated at a speed of 178 km/h. During initial climb, the right wing dropped to an angle of 30°. Correction was attempted by ailerons but the airplane continued to descend, struck a 1,5 meter high snow wall and crash landed in a snow covered field. It lost its undercarriage and came to rest. All 12 passengers escaped uninjured while five crew members were slightly injured. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
Probable cause:
The exact cause of the accident and the reason of the right wing drop could not be established and identified. The takeoff speed was correct.

Circumstances:
The airplane was completing a cargo flight from Yakutsk to Magadan, carrying two passengers, eight crew members and a load of 12 tons of vegetables. The approach to Magadan-Sokol Airport was started by night and marginal weather conditions (rain falls). While descending to an altitude of 570 meters, the captain decided to initiate a go-around when the airplane struck the slope of a snow covered mountain and crashed 13,7 km short of runway. The aircraft disintegrated on impact and all 10 occupants were killed.
Probable cause:
The accident which resulted in a controlled flight into terrain was the consequence of several navigational errors on part of the crew of failed to follow the published procedures. This caused the aircraft to be off course by 5,6 km on approach. The poor visibility due to night and rain falls and the lack of ATC assistance was considered as contributing factors.

Circumstances:
The airplane was completing a cargo flight from Yakutsk to Batagay, carrying a crew of six, two passengers and a load of pipes for a total weight of 11,350 kilos. Following an uneventful flight and approach, the crew completed the landing in good conditions. According to the crew and eyewitnesses, the touchdown was smooth about 74 meters past the runway threshold at a speed of 250 km/h. After a course of 105 meters, a loud sound was heard on the right side of the aircraft. While decelerating, the aircraft deviated to the right when, at a speed of 210 km/h, the engine n°4 struck the ground. The airplane veered off runway to the right, struck an earth mound then trees, pivoted on itself before coming to rest in flames 710 meters after the initial impact and 30 meters to the right of the runway. All eight occupants evacuated safely while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
Probable cause:
The right main landing gear leg broke shortly after touchdown, probably due to fatigue fracture. Investigations were unable to accurately define the landing parameters because the aircraft was not equipped with the latest generation of FDR systems. The failure of the right main gear could be explained by a prolonged operation of the aircraft under very low temperatures with a large number of landings completed with a total weight at the limit of tolerances. Also, the fact that the flaps were deployed at 25° upon landing resulted in a speed increase of approximately 20 km/h compared to a landing configuration with flaps extended at 35°, which could also be considered as a contributing factor.

Circumstances:
On a positioning flight from Ust'-Maya to Yakutsk at night with the center of gravity being out of the envelope (too far forward), the right propeller developed negative thrust (due to a malfunction) shortly after takeoff. The crew was unable to counteract as the altitude was too low and the aircraft crashed in a forest located 1,350 metres behind the runway threshold and 310 metres to the right of the runway extended centerline. All 5 crew members were killed.
Probable cause:
The right propeller developed negative thrust during initial climb.

Following an uneventful flight from Krasnoyarsk, the four engine aircraft landed at Yakutsk Airport. After touchdown, following a course of some 250 meters, the airplane collided with an ambulance that was crossing the main runway. Upon impact, the ambulance was totally destroyed and its three occupants were seriously injured. The airplane continued for dozen yards before coming to rest. None of the occupants were injured but the aircraft was considered as damaged beyond repair.
Probable cause:
It was determined that the ambulance's driver decided to cross the runway without prior permission from tower.

Circumstances:
On the leg from Novosibirsk to Yakutsk, the hydraulic pressure on engine number 2 dropped. The captain decided to divert to Krasnoyarsk Airport for an emergency landing. The approach was completed in snow falls and during the last segment, the four engine airplane was too low and struck the ground 200 meters short of runway threshold then crashed and burned. There were no casualties but the aircraft was destroyed.
Probable cause:
The cause of the loss of hydraulic pressure on engine number 2 remains unknown. However, the decision of the crew to divert to Krasnoyarsk Airport was wrong as the weather was considered as marginal. It would be preferable to divert to Kemerovo or Bratsk Airport where the weather conditions were considered as good.

While cruising at an altitude of 1,800 meters in snow showers, the crew informed ATC that the right engine caught fire. A minute later, the crew reported he was unable to extinguish the fire and elected to divert to Pokrovsk. While descending, the captain attempted an emergency landing when the airplane struck tree tops and crashed in flames in a snow covered forest located 35 km from Pokrovsk. Five passengers were rescued while 15 others occupants were killed.
Probable cause:
It is believed that the fire on the right engine was caused by the rupture of a fuel line.

While descending to Olyokminsk, the crew encountered poor weather conditions and followed visually the wrong river Sinyaya instead of Lena. Doing so, the aircraft descended prematurely and its altitude was insufficient while passing the outer marker. The aircraft struck trees and crashed on the slope of a wooded hill (434 m high) located 25 km short of runway threshold. The wreckage was found a day later and all four crew members were killed.
Probable cause:
Unable to determiner his exact position based on the ETA, the crew erroneously followed the Lena River. As a result of a premature descent, the aircraft collided with trees. ATC, unable to assist the flight by radar in marginal weather conditions, unreasonably gave permission to the crew to perform a straight-in approach, based only on the report of the crew.

Circumstances:
The aircraft was completing a cargo flight from Yakutsk to Sangar, carrying a load of 3,100 kilos of apples. Descending to Sangar Airport by night, while at an altitude of 600 meters, the pilot informed ground he located the airport. Twice, the airplane overflew the airfield without landing and the crew was apparently unable to determine his position with certainty. While flying at low height, the right wing struck trees and was sheared off. Out of control, the airplane crashed on the southwest slope of Mt Vataala Hayata located near the village of Smorodinny, about 8 km southeast of the airport. The aircraft was destroyed by impact forces and a post crash fire and all five crew members were killed.
Probable cause:
A general power failure occurred in Sangar few minutes before the arrival of the aircraft. Due to the night and the presence of fog, the visibility was less than 3 km and the pilots interpreted the lights of Smorodinny village as those of Sangar and thus started the approach prematurely, causing the aircraft to struck trees and to crash. For reasons unknown, the crew had not been informed by ATC that Sangar was plunged into darkness and bad weather at destination.
