The airplane departed Aalborg on a supply mission to Stavanger-Sola Airport, carrying a load of oil barrels and four crew members. En route, weather conditions deteriorated when the three engine aircraft impacted the slope of a mountain located near Birkeland. The aircraft was destroyed upon impact and all four crew members were killed.

The crew was performing a paratroopers mission over the region of Uddevalla. After dropping his paratroopers, the crew was flying at low height with only two engines running when the aircraft was shot down by an anti-aircraft battery. The aircraft went out of control and crashed, bursting into flames. All three crew members were killed.

The copilot attempted to make an emergency landing when the aircraft crashed in a wooded area and was destroyed. The copilot was killed while both other crewmen were injured and taken PoW.
