Stradishall AFB

The airplane departed RAF Stradishall on an operation to Kiel. It was lost without trace, maybe it crashed somewhere in the North Sea. All six crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Stradishall at 2000LT on an operation to Hamburg. While passing over the Netherlands at night, it was shot down by the pilot of a Me.110 and crashed in Ter Apel, near the German border. Five crew members were killed and a fifth became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Stradishall at 1825LT on an operation to Düsseldorf. While returning to base in the evening, the crew declared an emergency due to engine failure but landing permission was denied as another Wellington was obstructing the runway. From a height of 150 feet, the captain initiated a go around procedure when the airplane stalled and crashed shot of runway. All six crew members were injured.

The airplane departed RAF Stradishall on a special duties operation. It was shot down by the German Flak over Belgium and crash landed in Namur. All six crew members became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Stradishall at 1803LT on an operation to Boulogne. While returning to base in the evening, the crew encountered technical problems with the hydraulic system. After touchdown, the airplane was unable to stop within the remaining distance, overran and came to rest. All six crew members evacuated safely.

Just after a night takeoff from RAF Stradishall, the left engine failed. The airplane sank back onto the runway and came to rest, bursting into flames. All six crew members were quickly rescued and the aircraft was destroyed by fire.

The crew departed RAF Stradishall on a local test flight. En route, he encountered poor weather conditions and while flying in clouds, the airplane iced up and crashed near Great Wratting. All six crew members were killed.

Three crew members were killed while three others drowned. At the time of the accident, the wireless was unserviceable.
