Circumstances:
Approaching Valday in poor weather conditions, the airplane collided with another Soviet Air Force U-2 registered 7 and carrying two people. Following the collision, both airplanes dove into the ground and crashed about 15 km west of Valday. Both airplanes were destroyed and all three occupants were killed.
Probable cause:
Both airplane were flying without any lights ON to avoid to be spotted by enemy forces.

Circumstances:
The pilot was supposed to deliver a radio station and various documents to the Soviet Air Force behind the enemy lines. The airplane was shot down by enemy fire and crashed in a wooded area located near Kerest, bursting into flames. The pilot, sole on board, was killed.

While returning to base following a night mission to the west front, the crew encountered poor weather conditions with snow falls, strong winds and icing. In a visibility of 30-50 metres, the airplane got iced, went out of control and crashed near the village of Pola, bursting into flames. The pilot was killed and the navigator was injured.

Loss of control in icing conditions.

Probable cause:
It is believed that the accident was the consequence of an incorrect elevator trim tab and left ailerons setting prior to takeoff.
