Circumstances:
The crew was completing a local training flight at RAF Waddington. For unknown reasons, the airplane landed hard, causing the undercarriage to be torn off. The airplane slid on its belly and came to rest, damaged beyond repair. All three crew members evacuated safely.

Just after liftoff, the airplane nosed down and crashed. All four crew members were slightly injured and the aircraft was destroyed.
Probable cause:
Loss of control after lift off because the rear control column was locked.

The pilot, sole on board, was completing a training flight out from Digby Airport. While making a turn, he lost control of the airplane that dove in the ground and crashed in Boothby Graffoe, some 6 km north of RAF Waddington. The pilot P/O Richard Harold Coupe was killed.
