Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Leeming in the evening of June 1st on an operation to Essen. Approaching the Dutch coast, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed into the Haringvliet off Hellevoetsluis. Six crew members were killed and a seventh occupant became PoW.

The airplane was engaged in an operation over England when it was apparently hit by a British fighter east of Felixstowe. The crew was able to evacuate the area and to return to Holland when the airplane crashed into the sea off Hellevoetsluis. All four crew members were killed.
