While cruising in a thunderstorm area, the aircraft went out of control and crashed in Mt Magazine, about five miles northwest of Havana, Arkansas. All six crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The crew was completing a flight from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. While descending to Portland, the visibility was reduced due to fog and the crew was unable to localize the airfield and the runway. On approach, the aircraft crashed in a huge ball of fire in the Redbank Trailer Park. Both pilots and 18 people on the ground (mothers and their children) were killed. Less than one month later, one of the survivor died from his injuries.

The airplane departed Barksdale AFB on a routine training exercise. En route, all crew members were forced to abandon the aircraft and to bail out due to an unexpected situation. Out of control, the airplane dove into the ground and crashed in a field located in Tenaha, Texas, some 82 km southwest of Barksdale AFB. A crew was killed.

The airplane departed Barksdale AFB on a flight to Walterboro, carrying five passengers and three crew members. The pilot was advised not to go, but he felt he needed to leave before an advancing snowstorm across Texas would arrive. Over the region of Monroe, Louisiana, the crew encountered poor visibility. The pilot reduced his altitude in an attempt to fly below clouds when the airplane collided with trees and crashed in the LaFourche Swamp located some 16 km east of Monroe. The wreckage was found by hunters on 3 January 1943. All eight occupants were killed.
