Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Stradishall at 2210LT on May 8 on an operation to Hamburg. While passing over the Netherlands, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed in Anna Paulowna, southeast of Den Helder. All six crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Linton-on-Ouse at 1745LT on an operation to Wilhelmshaven. While flying over the Netherlands at night, it was shot down by the German Flak and crash landed in Anna Paulowna. All five crew members became PoW.
