The airplane departed RAF Mildenhall in the evening of December 29 on an operation to Hamm. While returning to base the following night, it was shot down by enemy fire and crash landed in Goudswaard. All six crew members became PoW.

Circumstances:
The crew was taking part to the German invasion of the Netherlands. While cruising at night, the twin engine aircraft was shot down by the Dutch Flak. The crew attempted to make an emergency landing when the aircraft crashed in an open field, bursting into flames. All four occupants became PoW.
