Luqa

The airplane departed RAF Luqa on an anti-shipping operation in the Mediterranean Sea. It was shot down by enemy fire and crashed into the sea off Tripoli. All three crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Hampstead Norris on a liaison flight to Luqa, Malta, on behalf of the Overseas Aircraft Delivery Unit. Passing over The Channel and while approaching the French coast, it crashed in unknown circumstances into the sea off Quiberville. All six crew members were killed.

The airplane departed Luqa Airfield on an operation to Italy. It crashed in unknown circumstances into Crotone harbor. All three crew members were killed.

Then airplane departed Gibraltar on a flight to Luqa with a crew of five on board. While cruising over the Mediterranean Sea, it was shot down by a Cr.42 and crashed into the sea some 15 km south of Lampedusa. All five crew members were killed.

The airplane departed Luqa Airport at 1130LT on an anti-shipping operation with a second similar aircraft. It crashed in unclear circumstances into the Mediterranean Sea off the Tunisian coast. All three crew members were killed.

On final approach to Luqa Airport, the airplane crashed for unknown reasons, bursting into flames. Two crew members were killed and a third was seriously injured. The only survivor died the next day from injuries sustained.

The airplane was on a transit mission from Luqa to Shallufa when it crashed in unknown circumstances in the Mediterranean Sea. Two crew members drowned and four others were rescued.
Those killed were P/O Leonard Herculese Campbell-Rogers and Sgt Archibald Douglas Cragg.
