Hemswell AFB

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on a mine laying mission with four crew on board. While on return flight, the crew was instructed to divert to RAF Leeming due to bad weather over Hemswell. While cruising in poor weather conditions, the airplane crashed in Hartoft Moor east of Rosedale Abbey. All four crew members were killed.

The airplane was engaged in a mine laying mission. While trying to land at RAF Hemswell in a near gale, it undershot the runway and crashed. All four crew members evacuated safely.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on a mine laying operation over the Elbe estuary. It was lost without trace but it is believed that it crashed into the sea off Cuxhaven.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on an operation to Kiel. It was shot down by the German Flak and crashed in Helsingborg, some 250 km northeast of Kiel. All four crew members were killed.

Shortly after a night takeoff from RAF Hemswell, the airplane collided with a second RAF Hampden registered P4397 and crashed. A crew was killed and three others were injured. The aircraft was destroyed. P4397 was repaired and later served with 14 OTU.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on an operation to Boulogne-sur-Mer. Approaching the French coast, it crashed in unknown circumstances into the sea. All four crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on an operation to Hamburg. At 0456LT, the crew reported difficulties when the airplane crashed into the North Sea. No trace was ever found.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on an operation to Hamburg. While returning to base, the pilot overshot and initiated a go around procedure when the aircraft stalled and crashed. Three crew members were killed and a fourth was injured.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on an operation to Szczecin (Stettin). On the return flight, out of fuel, it crashed in an open field located in Stradsett. A crew member was killed and three others were injured.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell in the evening of September 2 on a bombing mission over Ludwigshafen. Flying over the Netherlands at night, it was shot down by the pilot of a Me.109 and crashed in Wijnandsrade. Two crew members were killed and two others became PoW.
