Circumstances:
The crew departed RAF Wyton on a local training flight. Shortly after takeoff, one of the engine failed. The airplane entered an uncontrolled descent, overturned and crashed, bursting into flames. All three crew members were killed.

The crew decided to return for an emergency landing but was unable to lower the landing gear. The airplane belly landed and slid for few dozen metres before coming to rest. All three crewmen evacuated safely and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
Probable cause:
Engine failure and belly landing after the undercarriage got jammed.

After he bailed out, he struck the tail and was killed. Out of control, the airplane dove into the ground and crashed in Tattershall Thorpe, about 2 km north of RAF Coningsby.
