Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Scampton on an operation to Kiel. While returning to base, it drifted too far to the north over the sea and ran out of fuel. The crew ditched the airplane in the early morning some 64 km off Bridlington. The airplane sank and was lost and all four crew members were rescued.
