Circumstances:
The pilot Frederic Hoyt (test pilot by the manufacturer Stearman) was completing a test flight from Wichita to Boise. While overflying Idaho, he encountered bad weather conditions with snowstorm. He lost his orientation and eventually decided to abandon the aircraft so he bailed out. Aircraft crashed in an open field and the pilot landed in a snowy field some 6 miles from the wreckage. He was found dead few hours later, froze to death. The accident occurred in January 1928 (exact date unknown).
