Circumstances:
The aircraft was on its way to England to be delivered to the Royal Air Force. En route, the crew encountered technical problems with the undercarriage which could not be lowered properly. The captain attempted to make an emergency landing in a field near Nashville, but the aircraft landed with the gear partially lowered and came to rest. All six occupants were uninjured while the aircraft was considered as damaged beyond repair.
Probable cause:
Gear malfunction.
