Circumstances:
Aircraft left Porto Alegre at 0600LT bound for Rio de Janeiro with six passengers and a crew of three on board. During the intermediate stop at Laguna, Santa Catarina, a seventh passenger boarded. The aircraft christened 'Potyguar' continued to the northeast and while cruising some 500 meters off the beach of Icapara, the aircraft 'exploded' and lost height before crashing into the sea. Nine occupants were quickly rescued by locals while a passenger, Colonel Attila Gaston Joseph Campos Salvaterra, was killed. The reason why the aircraft went out of control could not be determined.
