While cruising in bad weather conditions east of Santiago de Chile over the Andes Mountains, crew encountered poor weather conditions with low visibility due to heavy snow falls. Aircraft hit a mountain and disintegrated near El Plomo. Rescuers did not find any trace of the aircraft nor the occupants and all operations were eventually suspended few days later. Twenty months later, in March 1934, ramblers discovered the wreckage in a uninhabited area. Aircraft was christened 'San José'.
