Circumstances:
The aircraft crashed 20 minutes after takeoff from Quito-Mariscal Sucre airport, bound for Lago Agrio on behalf of Texaco Petroleum Company. While cruising, the aircraft hit the slope of Cerro El Tigre and rescue teams reached the scene three days later. Nobody survived. Pilots lost their situational awarness while cruising in bad weather conditions and did not sea and avoid the mountain. GPWS was unusable at the time of the accident.
