Circumstances:
Aircraft was en route from Chicago to Oakland, California. While cruising in the region of Sterling, west of Chicago, crew encountered poor weather conditions with heavy rain falls, turbulence and thunderstorm. Captain decided to attempt an emergency landing in a field located in Sterling. On touch down, aircraft went out of control and came to rest, damaged beyond repair. All eight occupants were unhurt.
