Circumstances:
Aircraft left Seoul-Incheon airport at 0305LT on a cargo flight to Shanghai-Pudong with a crew of two and 39 tons of cargo. Around one hour after departure, while overflying China sea at FL230, crew sent a distress call following a fire in the cabin and elected to divert to Jeju Island. 21 minutes later, aircraft came out of control and crashed into the sea. Both crew were killed. It appears the aircraft was carrying 39,331 kilos of cargo, among them 2,092 kilos of dangerous goods as lithium batteries, paints, amino acid and synthetic resin.
Causes:
In flight fire in the cargo compartment. Still under investigation.
