While cruising at FL340, contact was lost with the aircraft and its crew. Greek authorities decided to send two fighters F-16 to intercept the aircraft and both military pilots notified that the copilot of the B737 was unconscious. The aircraft continued its flight for a few minutes before crashing in a mountainous terrain located 40 km North of Athens. All occupants were killed. The crew did not follow pressurisation procedures and the aircraft was pressurized at the time of the accident.
